Where are you from?
I grew up in Cedar Park, Texas! I moved to San Marcos, TX in 2012 for school, and then to New Braunfels, TX upon graduating in 2017.
Where did you go to school?
I went Texas State University and got my degree in Marketing and Fashion Merchandising.
What kind of dogs do you have?
Our oldest is a 3 year old border collie/Australian shepherd mix and our newest baby is named Daisy! She’s a miniature Australian shepherd. They’re my whole world!
How did you meet your husband, wedding related questions…
I have a ton of posts on how we met, our engagement and wedding HERE…totally unconventional, but it worked out!
When did you start your blog and why?
I started my blog in 2014 with no intentions of it being more than a hobby and an outlet to share my love for fashion. I struggled my entire life with body image and eating disorders – I’ve found that what you wear has the ability to have such a positive impact on your confidence and self-esteem. My goal is to inspire women through fashion to find what makes them feel confident and beautiful.
How did you come up with your blog name?
I wanted to come up with something that was catchy, yet still reflected who I am. I’ve always been a super smiley and positive person, even when everything was going wrong, so that’s where I got the sunshine. I’m also vertically challenged, so if I’m not lounging in a tshirt, I’m almost always in heels. Hence, stilettos. Put them together, and it just seemed like a good fit (until I realized a lot of people don’t know how to spell stilettos…what?!). If you’re deciding on a name for your blog, definitely choose something catchy and easy to spell!
Who takes your photos?
My momma takes my photos for the most part. She’s a saint. It’s been fun being able to have momma/daughter time while shooting also!
What kind of camera do you use?
I use a Canon Rebel T5i.
What is one beauty product you can’t live without?
Lipstick! I’m seriously such an addict. Even if I have a tshirt on, there’s a 99.9% chance I at least have a nude lipstick on.
Do you wear extensions?
I wore clip-ins for YEARS, but switched to NBR (natural beaded rows) in 2016. HIGHLY recommend them. They’re essentially just sewn in to your natural hair, and they don’t damage it at all! So much less maintenance than clip-ins, although they are pricey. If you’re in the market for NBR in the Austin area, shoot me an email, and I will give you my hair stylist’s info!
I want to start a blog. Any advice?
Be consistent. Make a schedule. Learn how to edit photos (especially lighting)! Do it because you’re passionate about it, not because you want to make money or become “social media famous.” You have to start it for the right reasons or you will always be disappointed!
Feel free to leave comments on my blog or contact me if you would like more information on my collaborations.
