NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE 2017: What You Need To Know!

What is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?

ONLY THE BEST SALE OF THE YEAR IN THE HISTORY OF EVER! Okay, but really y’all…it is THE absolute best sale of the year hands down. Normally you’re grabbing sale items as they as almost out of stock and clearing the racks OR the seasons are changing so you will maybe get one or two wears out of it before you can pull it back out the following year. Well, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a little backwards. All of the merchandise in the sale is BRAND SPANKIN’ NEW, fully stocked, AND comes out before the fall season even hits. Oh, and it’s all up to 40% off. No big deal. Can you tell I’m freaking stoked?! Basically, prepare your bank accounts and go nuts…it’s that good!

When can I shop the sale?

If you’re a Nordstrom card holder, you are VIP and can shop early sista! Like, THIS Thursday, July 13th, 12 AM PST kinda early! *squeals*

The sale opens to the public July 21st if you don’t have a card and choose not to sign up, however I would strongly suggest it for a couple of reasons! For one, items sell out. I know…bummer. But it happens, and can pretty much guarantee many items will be gone quickly. When Tory Burch boots, Kendra Scott, and amazing fall items are about 40% off, it just can be expected. The main reason I love being a cardholder though is all the Nordstrom perks! Not only do you get $100 of FREE alterations per year, per level (ie. I currently have $300 of alterations in my account that I can use between now and December – hello life saver), but you also get Nordstrom notes which is more or less a Nordstrom store credit. I usually rack up $20-$200 in Nordstrom notes every month…and who doesn’t like free clothes?! They even have triple point days where you can rack up points SO quickly. Basically, I don’t know what I did with my life before becoming a Nordstrom cardholder! Haha!

Ps. Prices go back UP August 7th, so be sure to grab all of the items you need before the return to regular price!

Omg, Katlyn, I need everything…How do I prepare for this shopping frenzy?

I’ve learned quite a few tips from shopping and working the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (I used to work in handbags at Nordstrom for those who started following me post going full-time with my blog).

  1. Shop online: Trust me…it’s just easier. The store is honestly a mad house, not all items are even carried, the dressing rooms are packed, and you can’t wine and shop…trust me, wine is key. Haha!
  2. Survey your closet prior: What do you need for fall? Do you need more sweaters? Coats? Boots? Jewelry? Denim? Makeup refresh? Layering pieces? Keep a note in your phone or a sheet of paper of everything you need so you don’t miss out before things sell out!
  3. Shop early, shop often: I will personally be waking up at 2 AM CST when the sale goes live to round up the best items in the sale in a massive blog post sale guide. I will have everything categorized (best tops, sweaters, coats, boots, jewelry, beauty, etc) to make shopping super easy. The sale is admittedly overwhelming. I spent 6 hours going through the items and creating my guide last year for y’all, so I know first hand that it’s intimidating to go through hundreds and hundreds of items. I will have my post up by 4 AM CST at the absolute latest, so set a reminder when you wake up to head over the the blog to see the best of the sale. You will find literally every item I think is cute on this guide…it will be a huge time saver! Also, be sure to check back on Instagram every day! I will be styling everything I buy from the Nordstrom sale and posting quick mirror snapshots daily! I know it’s always way easier to get inspiration/fit reference on me versus a model, so you may not even realize how cute something is when you initially see it online! Also, some things sell out and get returned, so keep checking the website for items that have been restocked!

Let me know if y’all have any questions I missed! Don’t forget to check back bright and early Thursday morning and put your shopping panties on! 🙂
